400 kW drive selection for process equipment

A 400 kW medium and high voltage electric motor in the H27R-HD-Modular series gives specifiers a clear choice of supply voltage, pole count and fixed nominal speed. The main versions are 6000 V and 10 000 V, with 3300 V and 11 000 V available on request. For chemical and petrochemical process equipment, this makes it easier to match the drive to the electrical network and the required operating point.

Typical applications in chemical and petrochemical plants

This power rating is well suited to pumps, process fans, compressors, conveyors and ventilation systems, as well as other heavy industrial machinery used around treatment, transfer and auxiliary process lines. The H27R 400 kW electric motor is a three-phase electric motor with a welded steel frame, IP55 protection and IC611 air-to-air cooling as standard. For site conditions and control strategy, the unit can also be configured for use with a frequency converter when the application calls for it.

How to choose the right variant

• 2POL: approx. 2900-3000 rpm
• 4POL: approx. 1400-1500 rpm
• 6POL: approx. 900-1000 rpm
• 8POL: approx. 700-750 rpm
• 10POL: approx. 550-600 rpm
• 12POL: approx. 450-500 rpm

These are fixed nominal speeds linked to the selected pole version, not a continuously adjustable range. For selection, consider the network voltage, the required process speed, mounting form and site conditions. The motor is specified with insulation class F, temperature rise class B, S1 continuous duty, PT100 sensors for stator and bearings, 3 PTC thermistors and a 230 V space heater. Depending on configuration, bearings may be grease or oil lubricated, and cooling variants such as IC616 or IC666 are available on request.
